WWE NXT live results (May 25, 2016): The A-Double Level

WWE.com

Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE NXT in its regular Wednesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.

Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what's been happening, and what we expect this week.

We'll post match results here, and we will also have our regular reactions post later. In the meantime, and most importantly, this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever goes down on the best show WWE produces on a weekly basis - during its initial broadcast!

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake.  If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

Enjoy the show!

  • William Regal opens the show. He says he had planned to have Bayley challenge Asuka for the Women's Championship at TakeOver, but Bayley is not medically cleared to compete. Therefore, the main event tonight is a No. 1 contender's match between Nia Jax, Carmella and Alexa Bliss.
  • First up: a tag team match! Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano against the debuting TM61. The newly-christened Shane Thorne and Nick Miller get a picture-in-picture promo and say they are the mighty and the mighty don't kneel. Continuity! Gargano and Ciampa get the win with their tag-team kick finisher.
  • We get a swank video package of Samoa Joe and his reign of terror, which he says has just begun.
  • Backstage, Cathy Kelley talks to Bayley and asks how Bayley is feeling about not being cleared to receive her rematch. Bayley says it sucks, but William Regal made the right decision. Nia Jax interrupts and taunts Bayley. But then Carmella comes to the rescue. Nia says she's going to run through her and Alexa. That summons Alexa. Nia says Alexa isn't even worth her time and bails. Alexa badmouths Carmella and then leaves. Bayley tells Carmella that this is her night.
  • We get a vignette for the incoming Andrade "Cien" Almas, where he watches old footage of lucha libre and removes a mask.
  • Austin Aries is out in a polo shirt and cuts a promo. He says you're only the best until someone better comes along. He wants to prove himself against the best, so that brings out Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura starts speaking Japanese, before he realizes Aries doesn't speak Japanese. William Regal comes out and makes Aries vs. Nakamura official for TakeOver.
  • Backstage, Jordan and Gable are interviewed about their tag title match against the Revival at TakeOver. They'll be ready, willing and Gable.
  • No Way Jose is in singles action against Jonathan Ortagun. He wins with his windup punch and slam finisher. After the match, Jose leads Tom Phillips and Corey Graves in an impromptu dance party.
  • We now get Finn Bálor's counterpart video package, basically in response to Joe's from earlier.
  • Graves announces next week he will conduct a sit-down interview with Joe and Finn together in the same room.
  • Also next week: Austin Aries vs. Elias Samson! THE DREAM MATCH.
  • No. 1 contender time! Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax. The leg drop to Carmella ends it in a big win for Nia. She and Asuka have a staredown to end the show.
