Ring of Honor (ROH)'s War of the Worlds tour with New Japan continued in Toronto last night (May 11). Matches and segments from this show will be used to produce what looks like four episodes of their weekly ROH TV program, which airs on syndicated channels, the Comet cable network and streams via their website.
Material taped on this tour will be used to build toward their next pay-per-view (PPV), Friday, June 24's Best in the World.
Spoilers, obviously...
- Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness announces Jay Briscoe will challenge Jay Lethal for the ROH World title at Best in the World.
Episode 1
- ACH def. Lio Rush. Silas Young then attacked ACH.
- Motor City Machine Guns def. The Addiction & Roppongi Vice. This started when tag champs Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian cut a heel promo on Toronto, which the other two teams answered. Alex Shelley pinned Daniels.
- The Elite def. Mike Elgin, Yoshitatsu & Hiroshi Tanahashi. This is the one show Kenny Omega can work because of visa issues in the U.S. He pinned Yoshitatsu after One-Winged Angel.
Episode 2
- Kazuchika Okada def. Matt Sydal
- Colt Cabana def. Adam Page. Post-match, Guerrillas of Destiny showed up to help the newest Bullet Club member beatdown Colt. Page, who now carries his hangman's noose with him, choked out Cabana.
- BJ Whitmer cut a promo the crowd booed over. Steve Corino ran in and chased him off to a big pop.
- Jay Lethal def. Donovan Dijak. The Elite ran in an Superkicked Dijak while the referee wasn't looking. Lethal kicked them out of the ring, but still hit a Lethal Injection on his woozy challenger for the win. The rest of the Bullet Club showed up after that to jump the champ, but the Briscoes made the save.
Episode 3
- Dalton Castle def. Gedo
- Tetsuya Naito def. Moose. Reportedly pretty evenly booked (surprisingly), and the IWGP champ is really over (not that he cares).
- ANX def. Cheeseburger & Jushin Thunder Liger. Good news that Liger is okay after the way he got dumped on his head at Global Wars. Rhett Titus pinned Cheeseburger.
- Silas Young with a promo, during which he starts yelling audience members' faces. ACH sneaks in, takes him out with a dive from the ring and escapes into the crowd.
- Kyle O'Reilly def. KUSHIDA. He rolled up the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight champ after what was described as a great match.
Episode 4
- Dalton Castle def. Kamaitachi, Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman. Castle pinned Kamaitachi. Veda Scott and Cedric argue about his loss after the match. She looks to fire him, but he quits before she can.
- Tomohiro Ishii def. Will Ferrara
- Team ROH (Briscoes, Roderick Strong & Jay Lethal) def. Bullet Club (Tama Tonga, Tanga Roa, Matt Jackson & Kenny Omega). Jay Briscoe pinned Tanga Roa after a Jay Driller. No tension between the Jays during the match, but they closed with a tense staredown.
- Briscoes announce they're going to Japan to tag the IWGP Heavyweight tag belts off Guerrillas of Destiny.
... how's that all sound to you?
