WWE always has a few surprises and guest appearances in store for us at WrestleMania - making it a show ripe for rumors. Especially with an injury depleted roster (which itself leaves the door open for comebacks, and people denying comebacks) and a criticially panned card, there's been a lot of speculation about Vince McMahon having big tricks up his sleeve.
There's also the fact that more than half the industry is in the same town(s), so you know there's business being done.
Here's a few of the juicier ones we've pulled together to share with you... you've probably heard a few of these, but in case you haven't this at least gives you a place to discuss them.
Feel free to share anything you've heard or read in the comments (usual rumor caveats* apply), and let's have fun.
It's WrestleMania Day!
- The Observer (subscription required but recommended) says "supposedly being talked to about making appearances at WrestleMania, including some you would never guess": In addition to the previously reported talk about Goldberg, part-time Performance Center striking coach Seth Petruzelli (the guy who knocked out Kimbo Slice back in EliteXC) has been discussed for involvement in Triple vs. Roman Reigns, there's been speculation about Finn Bálor getting involved in the Intercontinental title ladder match and more.
- Company officials are reportedly anxious about the show, and held a backstage meeting with the entire roster. Among the main topics was the importance of the pre-show. Unlike other pay-per-views (PPV), WWE views Mania and its Kickoff as one big event... so the message to pre-show matches was both "you're important" and "don't slack off".
- PWInsider says that WWE have finally signed Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa to official deals. Gargano did drop the tag titles in Evolve this weekend, but also has a match lined up with former partner and TNA World champ Drew Galloway in May (2016!), so it's unclear if this is an exclusive deal, a Samoa Joe deal or something new. WWE officials were reportedly at every indy show this weekend and made verbal offers to at least four talents.
- Randy Orton both refuted comeback rumors at the Hall of Fame, saying he still had two-to-three more months of rehab, and teased hitting an RKO on someone tonight.
- The Rock apparently arrived in Dallas/Fort Worth at 2AM Sunday morning and went directly to AT&T Stadium to meet with Vince McMahon and team to figure out his role tonight.
* Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
