Rumor Roundup (April 23, 2016): John Cena return, Shane McMahon vs. The Authority, Samoa Joe NXT title win, more!

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Apparently John Cena still hasn't officially been cleared by WWE and his return date is still up in the air. It could be as soon as May or could be as late as July.
  • The Shane McMahon vs. The Authority storyline could be starting on Raw next week.
  • According to the Observer, the Samoa Joe NXT title win at the Lowell house show was planned in advance.
  • Regarding Finn Balor main roster call up rumors, the Observer says "pitches have been made for him" and obviously he's coming up at some point but it's unclear when.
  • As for injuries, Balor's ankle issue during the match was apparently storyline driven but the Observer notes he has been dealing with some injury problems of late.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
