LU S2E13 LIVE BLOG
Geno here.
Let us do this.
Dario met with Fenix. He told Fenix he was lucky to survive his encounter with Matanza. They panned to show Drago and Aerostar also there, with Dario making mention he needs another team for his Trios tournament. Then he remembered they were a team last year and lost in the first round.
So he made a new match. Fenix would team with two new partners: PJ Black and Jack Evans. They'll take on Disciples of Death. Then he booked Aerostar vs. Drago with one of the seven medallions on the line.

Aerostar vs. Drago
Fans were heavy into this one with both guys flying around giving The Temple big spots to chant for. Aerostar sold a knee injury throughout much of the match but still made his comeback and scored the pin.

Taya was wondering how it's possible for Johnny Mundo to look even better today than he did yesterday. "I'm not a man, I'm the man." That sounds familiar!
She said Dario Cueto booked him in a match against Cage next week for one of the medallions. Mundo was cool with it in part because he would have her as back up. Then she told him it's a steel cage match, leading to Mundo delivering the cheesiest line in the history of the show.
"Cage in a cage."
Taya tried to calm him down, he showed a brave face, and that was that.

Fenix & PJ Black & Jack Evans vs. Disciples of Death
There was some good comedy early on. Black had his hand out like he was going to tag Fenix in but then moved it at the last second before holding his hand out for Evans to tag in. Jack stopped and said "but you're doing so good, bro, stay in there!"
When they went back to it, Evans said he was stretching -- he said this while doing jumping jacks -- while also screaming he doesn't want an injury. Then he finally tagged in and was immediately ripped to the mat and racked on the ring post. He responded to this by screaming "GET ME OUT OF HERE" and desperately searching for a tag. Black tagged in again and Evans rolled out of the ring.
Fun.
The babyface side was in control for much of the match. Even when they seemed to be arguing over who was tagging in and out, it worked out. Fenix ultimately scored the pin after Black and Evans took everyone out on the outside. Catrina was pissed that her team lost again.

Dario met with the trios champions. He said he didn't make it clear that the winners of the tournament will be the champions, which means they're going to have to compete in it as opposed to wait for the winners. They were very upset about this.

Catrina told the Disciples of Death they failed miserably in the one last chance Mil Muertes gave them. The worst part was that Fenix was the one who claimed victory. "Give me one good reason to not destroy all of you right now."
Then Siniestro de la Muerte ripped the black heart out of Trece's chest. Then he did the same to Barrio Negro. He held both up in his hands as Catrina smiled and walked off.

Mil Muertes vs. Monster Matanza
This was the main event for the Lucha Underground championship.
They were really putting over how this was a MONSTER vs. MONSTER match. The staredown felt electric. Muertes struck first and, as has become customary, Matanza didn't sell for him. Then, suddenly, he did. Mil just started clubbing him and before you knew it, Matanza was down on his stomach taking shots. Matt Striker was SHOCKED.
He got right back up and took control right after, though.
Then they went back and forth.
There came a point when Muertes was really taking it to him, enough so that Dario decided to try to hit him with a double axe handle smash. Mil grabbed him by the throat and picked him up but was saved by Matanza, who was selling a leg injury at this point. This time it was Catrina's turn to get involved. She used the skull in her hand to hit Matanza with and he grabbed her throat. Muertes broke the hold by hitting him in the back with a chair.
They fought all through The Temple, battling all the way up onto the balcony and onto the top of Dario's office. They teased Muertes throwing Matanza off while Dario looked on concerned. He got one leg over but they reset. Back up top, Muertes hit the flatliner and THEY WENT THROUGH THE ROOF OF DARIO'S OFFICE.
The referee called the match and no winner was announced.
End.
