WWE NXT preview (April 13, 2016): Want it all

NXT on Instagram

It's the first episode from the April 2 WrestleMania Axxess taping (spoilers for which are here) which will build from TakeOver: Dallas. Here's what to expect from the show.

The Headliner

There's this guy, see. He's a cross between Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Spike Spiegel and Antonio Inoki. People lose their $#!+ from his entrance alone, and have been known to have heart attacks while orgasming when he wrestles.

He's on NXT tonight, and might even get his first full-blown WWE story started.

You should probably tune in and watch that.

The Title Scene

Finn Bálor is your NXT champion, and despite two clean losses at the last two live specials, all signs still point to Samoa Joe at his top challenger. If it's going to be anyone else, they have some work to do, because the three other men with a reasonable claim to a title shot have all been promoted to the main roster already this year.

The tag division is in a similar predictiment. American Alpha not only beat most of the other contenders on en route to unseating the Revival, two of those squads are now on Raw and SmackDown. The tag titleholders will need to be ready, willing and Gable for no flips, just fists.

While Bayley looks to have missed out on/avoided a call-up herself, she's not necessarily penciled in for Women's champ Asuka's next feud. The Empress of Tomorrow has been long-standing issues with partners-in-crime Eva Marie and Nia Jax which may need to be settled with extreme prejudice before the Hugster exercises her rematch clause.

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- His initial feud looks to have ended after one match, so Austin Aries will need a new dance partner. If Joe vs. Finn III isn't the plan, the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived could slot right into the title picture by virtue of his clean win over Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner Baron Corbin.

- Repeated vignettes tell us that someone who likes dance music and goes by the unlikely name of "No Way Jose" will be on our screens soon.

- The previously mentioned promotions, and new class of signees, should mean a chance for folks like Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Tye Dillinger to shine - and more opportunities for newer names like Peyton Royce and Rich Swann to connect with the audience.

- Perhaps even the rare and elusive special contract-types like Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa could get storylines...

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake.  If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

See you tonight for NXT, Cagesiders!
