Hey - we're back in Full Sail! It's the third episode from the January 27 taping (spoilers for which are here) which should take us all the way to TakeOver: Dallas. Here's what to expect from the show.
The Headliner
The quest by Dana Brooke & Emma to prove their superiority over Asuka started out as good quality pro wrestling villainy. But as the losses stacked up, it became funny. Now, as the Aussie prepares to face the Empress of Tomorrow for her third televised singles match - two losses: one by pinfall, one by submission - it's just kind of getting sad.
With the undefeated Japanese badass steamrolling toward a Women's title showdown with Bayley at TakeOver: Dallas next week, the odds she takes her first pin or submission here are astronomical. At least now that Emma looks to have rejoined the main roster, her jobbing to Asuka over the last six months makes a lot more sense.
Enjoy Dana's delusional cheerleading for what may be one of the last times tonight.
The Title Scene
Absent from last week's otherwise monumental episode was much on the NXT championship program, but it deserved a breather after Samoa Joe's hour-long win over Sami Zayn the week before to earn his latest shot at Finn Bálor's prize. Expect one or both men to speak more on their upcoming match tonight.
Main eventing last week's hour full of news was American Alpha's victory over the Vaudevillains, which earned them the next opportunity at the Revival's tag team belts. The only guys on the roster who believe more in themselves than Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder are probably Chad Gable & Jason Jordan. This is gonna be great.
Other stuff to keep an eye on:
- From his couch, Austin Aries calmly explained the lesson he plans to teach Baron Corbin in Dallas. Will the Lone Wolf retort?
- What's next for the Realest Guys? Was their Roadblock defeat a final farewell to NXT? Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady & Carmella are all without plans for Apr. 1. Will we see them again on Wednesdays, or are they going to be entertaining us from other nights of the week from now on?
- There's a long list of folks we haven't seen in a few weeks, but two that jump out are Apollo Crews and Elias Samson. Will either or both get a quick program for TakeOver thrown together tonight?
- They most definitely have a date in Dallas (in fact, the Likeable One is pulling double duty next weekend) - how will Sami Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura progress with one guy on the main roster and another not appearing until next Friday night?
NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcast (like here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.
