Not waiting for tomorrow night's SmackDown, where spoilers had United States champion Kalisto accepting Ryback's challenge for a WrestleMania match, WWE announced today that the luchador and the Big Guy will throw down in Texas on Apr. 3.
This David vs. Goliath battle has been set-up over the past few weeks of television, as Ryback has simutaneously showed a mean streak in the ring while advising Kalisto to push himself by ditching his tag partner, Sin Cara.
Rumors have been swirling the former NXT tag champion Lucha Dragons will be going their separate ways as part of the smaller man's push into the upper mid-card in an effort to pass him the Rey Mysterio mantle. Sin Cara debuted a darker look on Raw this week that many took as a visual cue the split is happening - and likely as part of the story seeing as he was Ryback's opponent on Monday.
Either way, their bout now gives us eight official for WrestleMania 32:
- Triple H (c) vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE championship
- Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose in a Street Fight
- Shane McMahon vs. the Undertaker in Hell in a Cell for control of Raw
- Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte (c) in a Triple Threat for the Divas championship
- The New Day vs. League of Nations
- Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback for the United States title
- The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
- The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz
