Okay, enough is enough

WWE.com

I have been one of Roman Reigns’ biggest supporters from the get-go (when I saw him with The Shield my exact words were "this guy is gonna be a star"). I have written posts defending him wholeheartedly despite all the negative his forced ascension to the top has caused.

And I am officially done with it. Because now it causes a major problem to me.

Dean Ambrose is being set up to lose ANOTHER title match. Someone please comment on the statistic of Ambrose is title matches of any kind because I’m sure it’s quite dismal. Ambrose is hands down undoubtedly and undeniably the most over guy on the roster and it’s not even close. And that has become his own undoing as WWE is using his uber overness against him.

We all know the eventual HHH vs Ambrose for the title matchup is bound to happen before WrestleMania (odds are on the Network special). And we all know Ambrose is going to lose, and for one purpose and one purpose alone: to get people to boo HHH so they won’t have a disaster when Reigns is crowned the new champion and new face of the company at Mania.

Literally that is the ONLY purpose. Read more into it as you wish (like they’re setting him up to be the never-say-die guy), WWE is only thinking of Reigns here. And in doing so letting Ambrose once again take the fall. Seriously this guy cannot win in title matches. And we all love him, but there comes a point where people begin to think "damn this guy can’t win big matches" and slowly begin to lose interest. Because it becomes "oh Ambrose is in a title match, we all know how this ends".

And it sucks. When Reigns wins the title at Mania, that thing isn’t leaving his waist for a long long long time. So those who argue that it sets up Ambrose for his future pop when he wins the title, please tell me when you expect that to happen. Definitely not in 2016 that’s for damn sure, and I would argue possibly not in 2017 either. If there was an endgame where Ambrose could feud with Reigns and win the title in the semi near future, sure I’d be on board because it’d tell a great story for a guy who takes all the beatings but still keeps going. But Reigns isn’t dropping that title any time soon, no way no how, and Ambrose is once again being set up to make Reigns not look better, but to at least look somewhat good for the big show.

And that’s sad, so sad. WWE is taking the guy everyone loves and using that love to try and get their guy over. Key word is "try" because I still don’t see it working. All it took was 1 minute between Ambrose and HHH at the end of RAW to convince me they would tear down the house and create the greatest reaction with an Ambrose win, more-so than months upon months upon months of Reigns booking.

My previous posts have been quite pro-WWE and pro-Reigns, and although I still think Reigns is unfairly hated and is a damn good talent, I have finally hit my breaking point in WWE’s effort to make us accept him. I want to accept him, always have, but now that they are willing to ruin the credibility of their most over guy just to attempt to make it work is pathetic. If Ambrose does indeed lose to HHH in their title match, I am almost inclined to join in the chorus of boos that will shower Reigns at Mania.

And that’s WWE’s fault. And that’s a shame.
