Injury reports be damned, Alberto Del Rio wants to become a four-time United States champion.
But he will take a few weeks before exercising his second rematch clause against Kalisto. The two rivals who've traded the belt between them three times already in 2016 will face each other once more at the Fastlane pay-per-view (PPV) later this month.
The masked luchador won the title back from Del Rio at Royal Rumble, and has worked against some pretty high profile competition since winning his second singles championship. A bout tonight on Raw illustrated where both men are - Kalisto defeated Rusev via countout while Alberto watched from ringside. The Mexican Aristocrat was dressed for action but was careful to not get phycially involved in the action, even when it came right next to him at the announce desk where he was guest commentating.
Presumably, whatever ADR's injury situation, officials believe that rest and non-surgical rehabilitation will address it between now and February 21.
This is the second official match announced for the card, which now looks like this:
- Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose in a Triple Threat to determine the #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight championship
- Kalisto (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio for the United States title
