Roman Reigns to face Kevin Owens for the Universal title at Royal Rumble - with Chris Jericho suspended above the ring in a shark cage

The reunited best friends Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho kicked off Raw tonight (Dec. 19) by celebrating KO retaining his Universal title at Roadblock: End of the Line - thanks to Jericho hitting him with a Codebreaker and triggering a disqualification.

General Manager Mick Foley broke up their party to remind them of what happened after the match, a pair of powerbombs through announce tables from Reigns and his old Shield brother Seth Rollins.

Foley also revealed his plan to ensure Y2J won’t be able to help the champ during his next title defense at Royal Rumble. Reigns will get his rematch on Jan. 29 in San Antonio, and before the match, Jericho will be locked in a shark cage suspended above the ring!

This raises (pun kind of intended) the question, can Owens win without assistance?

It also points to Reigns-free Rumble match. He could pull double duty, but that seems kind of unlikely with a high profile title match already on his dance card and spots in the battle royal at a premium thanks to the brand split.

This is the first match officially announced for the pay-per-view (PPV), except for the famous 30 man over-the-top rope elimination contest, for which Brock Lesnar & Goldberg are confirmed.
