Germany’s wXw joins FloSlam

wXw

On today’s Wrestling Observer Live (subscription required but recommended), FloSports Vice President for Global Rights Acquisition Toby Mergler made a guest appearance to announce the newest promotion in the FloSlam lineup, Germany’s Westside Xtreme Wrestling.

It’s a multi-year agreement and shows will start next Wednesday with the 16th Anniversary Show airing on tape delay as a FloSlam World Premier. For now all shows will be airing on tape delay and then available in the archive as VOD, but the hope is to eventually get to a point where the shows can be broadcast live. As well, a curated selection of past wXw shows will make it onto FloSlam as time goes on. It’s a non-exclusive deal, and wXw shows will continue to appear on wXwNOW and the Highspots Wrestling Network.

Toby also shed a little light on Flo’s approach to signing new promotions, saying that they’re willing to tailor their approach on a promotion-by-promotion basis, knowing that each situation is unique and it’s important to keep their partners’ goals in mind. Thus explaining the wide variety in deals so far, from Beyond and PWX’s one-offs all the way through the World Wrestling Network promotions going full exclusive. As well, their offers end up being based heavily on the response to the events. Currently their focus is on taking the money made and putting it right back into bonuses for the existing promotions or into higher offers for other promotions.

Before I get out of here, let’s go ahead and take a non-spoiler look at that 16th Anniversary Show card, shall we?

  1. Alpha Kevin vs. Marius Beethoven
  2. Chris Colen vs. Emil Sitoci
  3. Ilja Dragunov vs. “Bad Bones” John Klinger
  4. Chris Brookes (c) vs. Da Mack vs. David Starr vs. Pete Dunne (wXw Shotgun Championship)
  5. A4 (Absolute Andy & Marius Al-Ani) (c) vs. Ringkampf (Axel Dieter, Jr. & WALTER) (wXw World Tag Team Championship Two Out of Three Falls Match)
  6. Adam Cole vs. Jurn Simmons (c) vs. Marty Scurll (wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship)

Quite a few familiar names there, with former ROH World Champion Adam Cole, current ROH Television Champion Marty Scurll, and Cruiserweight Classic participant Da Mack. And hey, if you were curious about Pete Dunne after today’s WWE United Kingdom Championship announcement, here’s a chance to check him out!

There you have it, folks

The hits keep coming for FloSlam, don’t they?
