Two words: Graver Consequences
Mil Muertes is the man of a thousand deaths, and a couple of those have come in this _ Lucha Underground’s version of a casket match. After losses in previous seasons to Fenix and Matanza, he looks to put someone else in a box this time, and end a feud with roots at the beginning of the show, when he faces Prince Puma tonight.
This match is also unique in that there’s some ‘real world’ angles to consider. The Temple’s story-heavy approach and far-in-advance taping schedule usually mean viewers are focused on who’s coming to Boyle Heights rather than who’s leaving, but with Puma’s alter ego Ricochet working for New Japan and the subject of nearly constant WWE speculation, the outcome of Graver Consequences will be analyzed a little differently than in years past.
It’s not the only gimmick on the show this week, either. Believer’s Backlash is like a lumberjack match, but if the audience were the lumberjacks. Mascarita Sagrada looks for revenge against Famous B tonight, but expect the fans to get their licks in on a guy who’s promised, but not delivered, a lot of fame.
We’ve also got a big five-on-five showdown that intertwines a ton of angles while adding to the upcoming Aztec Warfare III bout where Matanza will enter first and put his title on the line. The Mack and the Moths have never gotten along, but he’s got to work with Marty & Mariposa - alongside their new rivals and The Temple’s latest couple-with-a-weird-relationship, Ivelisse & Jeremiah Crane. But they’re facing two men in a best-of-five series with their soul on the line (not that they know it) and a guy in Dante Fox who thinks his teammate Killshot left him for dead on a mission in a foreign land (plus Argenis) - so don’t expect either team to work together flawlessly.
What else will LU have in store for us?
