WWE NXT preview (Nov. 30, 2016): In the fryin’ pan

NXT’s Instagram

Tonight’s show will mostly consist of things filmed in Ottawa before last week’s SmackDown (spoilers from which are here). Here's what to expect.

The Headliner(s)

SAnitY didn’t make it onto the TakeOver: Toronto card, as Alexander Wolfe & Sawyer Fulton were eliminated from the Dusty Rhodes Classic by eventual finalists TM-61. But Eric Young made sure their presence was felt on the episode taped before the live special.

EY brought his group out to decimate Rich Swann & Kona Reeves before their match was over, and announced SAnitY was done playing by the rules (I guess entering the tag tournament counted?). When No Way Jose came out to check on his tag partner, he challenged Young to a match...

... which didn’t last long before Wolfe, Fulton and Nikki Cross got involved. Why do we think tonight’s rematch will go differently, especially with Eric promising chaos? Perhaps the former TNA World champ wants to prove he’s still a dominant force in his new playground?

But I still bet Nikki ends up biting somebody.

The Title Scene

Shinsuke Nakamura has asked for, and will receive, his rematch for the NXT title (live in Osaka this weekend... we’ll see at least some of it next Wednesday). The first two-time champ in brand history will get a warm-up against somebody tonight.

A trio of babyfaces picked up a win on last week’s show. Does that put Ember Moon, Liv Morgan or Aliyah (most likely Ember) in line for a shot at Asuka’s Women’s championship?

New tag team titleists #DIY are probably still recovering from their epic win over the Revival in a two-out-of-three falls match at TakeOver. Do Dash & Dawson now have a rematch clause and how soon can they exercise it?

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- Speaking of tag teams, what is Paul Ellering’s chapter 3 for Dusty Cup winners the Authors of Pain? And what’s the next move for runners-up Shane Thorne & Nick Miller.

- Will Swann be a regular presence on NXT, either as Jose’ tag partner or a solo act? What about Cedric Alexander, who lost to Andrade “Cien” Almas on the Toronto ‘go home’? They sure look settled in at Raw and 205 Live, but inquiring minds want to know.

- Triple H said Mickie James’ WWE future was up to her. With another TakeOver only two months away, could Trips maybe say something to convince her to stick around?

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

See you tonight for NXT, Cagesiders!
