Tonight’s show will mostly consist of things filmed in Toronto, including recaps of TakeOver and stuff filmed before the WWE Network live special (spoilers from which are here). Here's what to expect.
The Headliner(s)
NXT’s “best friends” have been messing with Liv Morgan since the plucky Jersey girl stepped up and was put down by Asuka a couple months ago. Peyton Royce & Billie Kay have used their experience advantage, and their numbers, to bully and beat down Morgan and her ally Aliyah at every opportunity.
Last week, however, Liv & Aliyah got an assist from the mysterious Ember Moon and sent the Australians packing. With Moon by their side, Morgan challenged Royce & Kay to find a third and come find them. So they did just that...

With another Jersey girl by their side in Daria Berenato, Peyton & Billie are ready for trios action in Toronto. Will this be the match which helps take the NXT women’s division to the next level?
I’ll be happy if it just gives us a little better sense of why we’re supposed to be cheering for Ember (other than her awesome finisher).
The Title Scene
Don’t expect much on this front other than recaps of their matches at TakeOver and the post-show interviews already available on YouTube, but with big bouts lined up for the upcoming tour of Japan & Australia, you never know...
Samoa Joe shocked the world when he became the first person to not only reclaim the NXT championship, but also to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura on WWE television. Joe says his victory was inevitable, while Nak is too upset to even speak. The biggest question might be, what does General Manager William Regal have to say about his Samoan nemesis once again holding the brand’s top prize?
Still unbeaten, even after Regal brought in a wrestling legend like Mickie James to challenge her, is Women’s titleholder Asuka. And somebody needs to step up and provide a challenge - not only for the good of the division, but also to deflate the Empress of Tomorrow’s ego. Her post-match snub of James was not something we’d expect from a babyface champ.
Which isn’t something we have to worry about from new tag champs #DIY. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa’s dreams came true when they defeated the Revival in a spectacular match at TakeOver, and the former indie guys celebrated reaching a big-time milestone with their fans.
Other stuff to keep an eye on:
- Gargano & Ciampa may have to worry about new Dusty Classic winners Authors of Pain, who added TM-61 to their book of victims last Saturday in the tournament finals.
- Tye Dillinger came up short in the biggest match of his life, but fans were chanting his name even when Raw & SmackDown stars were in the ring, so I’d say he made an impression.
- NXT has added some big names with lots of experience to their roster of late, and the story between Toronto and the next TakeOver will probably be focused on how they work names like Roderick Strong, Eric Young & Nikki Cross into the fold.
NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.
