WWE Survivor Series 2016 results: Bayley wins women’s tag match for Team Raw, then gets her butt kicked by Charlotte

WWE Network

With three elimination tag matches on the card for Survivor Series, and none of them likely to go on last on a six match card, you had to figure one would open the pay-per-view (PPV) portion of the show. WWE opted to go for the Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown Women’s match.

Toronto seemed excited to see them, as Charlotte Flair (with Dana Brooke), Bayley, Sasha Banks, Alicia Fox & Nia Jax entered first for the red squad, followed by Becky Lynch, Naomi, Alexa Bliss & Carmella entered to a nice, if not deafening reception.

You’ll notice I didn’t mention Nikki Bella for the Tuesday night team, and that’s because she’d be attacked backstage. The trainer wouldn’t clear her to compete, so General Manager Daniel Bryan sent in the coach, Natalya, to replace her.

Even with that sorted, things weren’t smooth from the start. After Carmella and Fox started for their respective teams, a tag to Lynch started a fight between the other three Horsewomen on Team Raw. That threatened to breakdown into a full melee between all eleven women before Jax stepped between them to settle things down.

When the dust cleared, it was champ vs. champ as Bex worked against the Nature Girl. That was the first crowd pleasing set-up, followed by Nia vs. everyone (although, she probably should have pinned some people while she was cleaning house).

The first two eliminations came in rapid succession, as Alicia took out Carmella and then Bliss took out Fox. Noami tried to clear the apron and fly to the floor to neutralize Nia, but got caught and slammed down to the floor. She was unable to answer the referee’s ten count and was the third elimination.

After a quick battle between Natalya and Sasha Banks, interference from Bliss thwarted a Banks Statement and allowed Natty to role up the former champ to even the score at 3 - 3. Charlotte ran in for a rematch of this Spring’s title feud between the Harts and Flairs. When a Sharpshooter couldn’t get rid of the Dirtiest Player in the Game, a Big Boot finished Bret Hart’s goddaughter.

The two remaining members of Team Blue also happen to be feuding for the brand’s top prize, and Alexa and Becky couldn’t get on the same page at first. But after an impressive tandem suplex from Jax, Lynch grabbed her arm and got Nia to tap. The largest member of Team Raw continued to assault the Lasskicker after being eliminated, so when Charlotte got rid of Bliss, Lynch was a wounded sole survivor for SmackDown.

Bex still had a lot of fight in her, however, and almost pinned Flair. Bayley broke that up, and used some confusion from a rope break to hit her finisher and win the match for Mondays.

The Raw champ didn’t like having the limelight stolen from her, however, and Charlotte spent the next minute or so delivering a vicious beatdown to the Hugster.

Guess Raw’s next title feud is confirmed.
