Tonight (Nov. 19, 2016) at NXT TakeOver: Toronto from the Air Canada Centre, the veteran Bobby Roode faced off with Tye Dillinger.
These two were originally partners in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, until Bobby Roode didn’t like the looks of their opponents in the first round and bailed on his partner Tye, leaving his fellow Canadian high and dry.
Despite being the heel in the feud, Bobby Roode’s glorious entrance was extremely crowd pleasing. I mean how can you boo this? It had a live choir and everything! Glorious!

The crowd was into both men and erupted into a “This is awesome!” chant before the men even locked up. The It Factor may have gotten a boo here and there tonight, but that’s all he could really expect for the Canadian Roode in Toronto. Instead, the crowd equally loved both of their fellow countrymen and were just as eager to chant 10 as they were to shout “Glorious!”
Tye started off hot in the match, fueled with emotion, but the experienced Roode found his moment, took control, and executed his game plan, which including working the neck of Tye, for the vast majority of the time. The Perfect 10 fired up and fought back and the men started trading near falls. Dillinger even locked in a Sharpshooter to the delight of the Air Canada Centre.
In the end, Bobby Roode tossed Tye shoulder first into opposite turnbuckles and hit his floating DDT for the 1-2-3.
Bobby Roode remains undefeated in NXT and could now find himself next in line for the winner of tonight’s main event. As for Dillinger, as can be seen by the response from the crowd after the match, he’s not going anytime soon.
