SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Becky Lynch (c) vs Alexa Bliss
Is Becky Lynch just a one-hit wonder? Alexa Bliss seems to think so.
The Road to No Mercy 2016
Becky Lynch fought her whole life to be a champion, and all that hard work finally paid off last month at Backlash when she became the first ever SmackDown Women’s champion.
Just two nights later on SmackDown Live during a Fatal 5-Way match, Alexa Bliss took advantage of a vicious kick from Carmella in order to sneak her way into a championship opportunity against Becky Lynch at No Mercy.
The official contract signing took place one week later, and Alexa made it known to the world that she born to be a champion, while Becky was born to be a loser. Alexa emphasized that Becky’s destiny is to only experience fleeting moments of success before the inevitable failures would turn her right back into the lovable loser that she was born to be.
Becky admitted that she was indeed not born to be a champion, but she fought to become a champion. She poured her heart and soul into achieving that dream, and that’s why she was standing there on SmackDown Live as the first ever Women’s champion for the blue brand.
Alexa wasn’t in the mood for inspirational stories, so she attacked Becky with a clipboard before toppling over a table onto Becky’s fallen body. Becky eventually recovered and chased Alexa away.
The following week, Becky was making her way down to the ring for a match when she was brutally attacked from behind by Alexa. Alexa smashed Becky’s face into the entrance ramp several times, rendering Becky unable to compete. Alexa held up Becky’s championship and gloated, reminding Becky that the Irish Lass Kicker didn’t deserve to be the champ.
Alexa’s momentum continued to build this past week on SmackDown Live when she actually pinned Becky’s shoulders to the mat during a tag team match. Alexa proved that her Twisted Bliss moonsault has enough stopping power to put Becky down for the 1-2-3.
What’s at stake?
This is the first ever defense of the SmackDown Women’s championship, and Becky absolutely needs to prove that she is not just a one-hit wonder. She needs to prove that she is not just a lovable loser who doesn’t know how to hold on to success.
Alexa Bliss has a ton of momentum right now and is willing to resort to whatever tactics are needed to affirm her self-proclaimed birthright to the Women’s championship. But let’s not forget that Becky Lynch said she will rip Alexa’s head off in order to retain her championship, so there could be a lot more than just gold on the line during this heated match-up.
Tune into No Mercy 2016 and keep it here on Cageside Seats to see which woman walks out with the gold!
