Here’s what Cody Rhodes will be doing on ‘Arrow’ on Oct. 19

Whatever last name he’s going by at the time - if he’s using one at all - Cody Runnels is a busy man these days. As “Cody”, wrestling fans just saw him on TNA’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view (PPV) this past Sunday, Oct. 2, and it looks like he’s going to be a staple on Pop TV’s Impact Wrestling for at least the next month or so.

But that’s not it for the guy we’ve long known as Cody Rhodes.

In a few weeks, we’ll get a chance to check out his latest collaboration with his pal Stephen Amell, when he guest stars on the Canadian actor’s CW show, Arrow. The network recently released the official synopsis of the third episode of the new season, revealing a bit more about Cody’s villainous role:

WRESTLING STAR CODY RHODES BRINGS THE SMACK DOWN TO STAR CITY —

Now that Oliver (Stephen Amell) has his new team, they are ready to hit the streets, but Oliver doesn't feel they are ready. Headstrong Wild Dog (guest star Rick Gonzalez) defies the Green Arrow's orders and sets out on his own after a new drug dealer, Derek Sampson (guest star Cody Rhodes), who is terrorizing Star City. Sampson proves more powerful than Wild Dog and it is up to the Green Arrow to go head to head with Sampson to save his teammate.

Despite flashing some powers in the teaser trailer - “Derek Sampson” doesn’t have any history in the DC Comics source material, so there’s not much to go on as to what Cody’s long-term prospects are for sticking around the Arrow-verse.

But at least he got to use his Dad’s kayfabe last name!

Who’s tuning in to the fifth season of Arrow? Who doesn’t usually watch, but will tune in on Oct. 19 to see the rematch between Cody & Amell?
