After tonight, Raw only has two more shows before Survivor Series, and General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon were behind their Raw counterparts in putting together their squads for the three planned red vs. blue elimination matches.
In a segment at the top of the 9PM hour, Foley caught up in a hurry, but not in a way which is going to cause anyone to re-evaluate whether he’s any good at his job. Putting best friends Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho on the five man team was a no brainer, and Roman Reigns’ resume demands you consider him for a spot, as well. But to immediately make a main event pitting Reigns against Jericho doesn’t seem like a good way to build cohesion.
Then, instead of just putting Braun Strowman - a monster of a man who Foley admits scares him - on the team, he booked a battle royal to decide the fourth member of Team Raw. This was, of course, a way to advance other angles, and it did just that when Cesaro eliminated his reluctant tag partner Sheamus. In the end, Braun did dump his rival Sami Zayn, saving Mick from the problem of having sworn enemies Zayn and Owens on the same team.
Who will round out the five-man team? And what about the ten-man tag squad, or the women’s group?
