WWE Hell in a Cell 2016: New Day vs. Cesaro and Sheamus full match preview

WWE Tag Team Championship Match

New Day (c) vs Cesaro and Sheamus

Mick Foley believes that Sheamus and Cesaro have the magic needed to change the face of tag team wrestling. That’s quite a tall order because the face of tag team wrestling has been unchanged for over 420 days.

The Road to Hell in a Cell 2016

Last month at Clash of Champions 2016, Sheamus and Cesaro fought to a draw in the seventh match in their Best-of-7 series. As a result, neither man had a sole claim to the championship opportunity that was promised to the winner of the series.

That’s where Mick Foley stepped in and shockingly awarded both men a shot at the WWE Tag Team championships:

The Swiss Superman and the Celtic Warrior spent the next few weeks bickering with each other while squashing jobber tag teams.

This endless bickering and disagreement cost each man in singles competition against individual members of the New Day. Cesaro and Sheamus simply spent way too much time jawing at each other and these ringside distractions led to individual defeats.

However when Cesaro and Sheamus teamed up to take on the New Day in a non-title tag team match, Mick Foley’s prophecy that this makeshift duo could change the face of tag team wrestling began to show its potential with one decisive and victorious Brogue Kick:

This non-title win showed that if Cesaro and Sheamus can set aside their differences and work as a team, even the New Day can’t stop them from achieving ultimate success in the Raw tag team division.

What’s at stake?

The New Day’s 420+ day reign as WWE Tag Team champions is on the line when they are challenged by the quirky tandem of Cesaro and Sheamus. If Sheamus and Cesaro fail to take advantage of this championship opportunity, their partnership will probably dissolve in a blink.
