We wondered aloud last night when news broke of Paige proposing to Alberto “El Presidente” Rodriguez (aka El Patron, fka Del Rio) in a WCW ring if it was a good idea for the second-generation luchador to get engaged in public while still embroiled in nasty divorce and custody proceedings.
Turns out, according to his wife’s lawyer, probably not.
Ryan Satin at Pro Wrestling Sheet reached out to counsel for Rodriguez’s wife Angela Velkei. Raymond Rafool told him that Velkei and Alberto’s divorce is not finalized. “They are far from it at this stage.”
He also offered some advice to Paige:
Of course, Paige should watch carefully how Alberto is denying and treating his current wife and the mother of his children in this divorce. History repeats itself.
Add Rafool to the list which includes the suspended WWE Superstar’s father, and plenty of observers around the globe, in thinking their engagement is a bad idea.
Don’t think it’s gonna slow Paige down, though...
