Lucha Underground season two to air in Canada on Fight Network

Lucha El Rey on YouTube

A lot of folks, including your truly, have big hopes for Lucha Underground in 2016.

Season one was one of the freshest and most entertaining wrestling products we've seen in ages, and, as a result, it picked up viewers and supporters as it unfolded. But the number of viewers was still capped by El Rey Network's reach.

The hiatus between seasons didn't produce a streaming deal or even a DVD release, either, so the concern remained that as great as LU is, it could be destined to become a short-lived, niche-within-a-niche product.

Today, the promotion announced that they're expanding their scope - at least a bit - to include the U.S.'s neighbor to the North.

Lucha Underground has secured their first Canadian television rights deal with TLN (Telelatino Network).

The deal will kick off with the Season 2 premiere and will air on Sunday nights at 10pm Eastern in Canada. The first episode premieres in Canada on Sunday January 31st.

TLN is available in 6.2 million homes in Canada and features programming in English, Spanish and Italian with Lucha Underground being presented in English.

The second season of Lucha Underground will be debuting in the U.S. a few days prior, on Wednesday January 27th with tapings for the upcoming season beginning this past November.

Listings for TLN on various Canadian cable outlets are available at www.tln.ca.

So, great news Canucks! And let's hope more announcements like this will be forthcoming so more wrestling fans worldwide can (legally) get hooked on the fights taking place in The Temple!
