Rumor Roundup (Jan. 7, 2016): John Cena injury, Bullet Club WWE stories, other New Japan defections, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • It does appear as though part of the reason the Royal Rumble was booked with Roman Reigns defending the title in the match was due to John Cena's injury.
  • Apparently Triple H made the call for to run stories on the situation with New Japan talents possibly coming to WWE. PW Insider notes the idea was just to drive traffic since news had already gotten out.
  • Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Bad Luck Fale is in negotiations with New Japan. He could be one of the other rumored Bullet Club stars to be leaving.
  • On top of that, PW Insider reports WWE is in talks with Rocky Romero. He may be brought in as a trainer or coach at the Performance Center.
  • According to PW Insider, Konnor of The Ascension is dealing with a jaw injury right now and that's why he's been off WWE television.
