Welcome to the weekly Rumor Look Back, taking a look back at the hot rumors six months ago and seeing how they ended up panning out. Let's get started.
The word on Bill DeMott is that is no action will be taken as WWE is hoping it will all blow over.
It did not and they ended up releasing him. (0/1)
There is a significant amount of Ring of Honor talent that WWE is interested in right now, especially since they are looking to make NXT a touring brand.
I don’t know about the lesser ROH talent, but asides from Samoa Joe, there hasn’t been any major signings. I was not going to grade this one, since it is a rather vague rumor, but I’m willing to listen arguments saying I should in the comments.
It looks like Undertaker is going to appear on Raw this week, either live or on a video on the TitanTron.
WWE couldn’t even be bothered with a TitanTron video of the Undertaker for this feud. You heard "You will rest in peace" but you never saw his face. The audio was probably from years ago. (0/1)
WWE was really happy with Jon Stewart’s performance but it is unclear if he will be involved at WrestleMania 31.
He wasn’t involved, but they did tap him for a huge role at SummerSlam.
It’s still thought that Mark Henry will be part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. He will be back on TV at any time.
He was part of the battle royal. He also returned the following week on SmackDown to call out Roman Reigns for not being respected. (2/2)
It is thought the Undertaker will be at Raw tonight with a major angle involving Bray Wyatt and his urn. At least the WrestleMania match will be made official.
As said above, he was not there. But they did confirm the match. (1/2)
There’s been talk of Mick Foley doing a special for the WWE Network.
Mick’s Cheap Pops comedy set was aired on the WWE Network on April 29. (1/1)
Kevin Nash will be the next announced WWE Hall of Fame inductee
So technically, the next Raw, Connor Michalek was announced as a recipient of the Warrior Award. But he technically was not an inductee. However, Tatsumi Fujinami was announced prior to Nash the week after. (0/1)
John Lauranitis will be inducting the Bushwhackers into the Hall of Fame.
He did. (1/1)
There were rumors floating around about a "secret" meeting at Raw last night before the show but the word going around is that it was just a standard meeting and had nothing to do with the Brock Lesnar situation as had been speculated.
I posted this rumor because it sums up how ridiculous rumors can be at times. This was a rumor about a meeting that may have been a special meeting but was really a regular meeting. I chuckled when reading it.
NXT could be back out on the road touring as early as May.
The Philly shows and the Albany shows were in May, so this is a correct rumor. (1/1)
There have been some rumblings that the Briscoes could be headed to NXT in the near future.
They are still in Ring of Honor. Apparently they were offered a deal but turned it down. (0/1)
Looks like Undertaker will be kept off television until WrestleMania after all.
Yup. (1/1)
Sheamus may be kept off TV until WrestleMania where he will be a participant in the Andrew the Giant Battle Royal.
He was actually off TV through WrestleMania, finally coming back the Raw the night after. (0/1)
Part of the reason WWE wants to re-sign Brock Lesnar so bad is because they fear if they lose him, it’ll look more like UFC is direct competition with WWE.
I think I’m in the minority, but I actually agree with WWE that UFC is not competition with them. Maybe it is competition for a couple pieces of talent here and there like Punk or Lesnar, but I don’t think there’s a huge cross over fan base since it’s scripted fighting vs. shoot fighting. At least not in the sense that I can watch UFC to get my share of pro-wrestling nor is a UFC person going to get their fill of shoot fighting from WWE. OK, mini rant done.
Apparently Mark Carrano has gained a lot of power backstage.
I don’t know how true that is, but it’s true enough to get screen shotted in Bill Hanstock’s Total Divas Review!
This Week: 7/13 - 54%
Overall: 404/768 - 53%
Have a great week, everyone!
