They probably won't get fast-tracked to a WWE name and NXT debut like Kana/Asuka, but according to PWInsider, Biff Busick & Athena will be joining the Japanese star & Rich Swann at the Performance Center in a few weeks.
Both have been subject of rumors for a while, Busick's name having been mentioned by Wrestling Observer several weeks back as having cleared his physical along with Swann. A former CZW champion, the 29 year old has been wrestling since 2007 and been prominent in Gabe Sapolsky's WWN promotions since 2012. In addition to Swann, he's worked with WWE-signed or affiliated wrestlers like Apollo Crews, Alexander Wolfe, Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciamp. He's known primarily for grappling and striking, but is extremely versatile and can bring hoss-like and high-flying elements to his bouts as well.
Cesaro is not a bad comp, in terms of look and skillset, and I say that as someone who considers The Swiss Superman to be one of my favorite and the best pro wrestlers in the world.
The Wrestling Goddess, Athena, has been one of the biggest names in the small pond of women's independent wrestling for the past couple of years. A dynamic athlete in a small package, the 27 year old Texan is capable of technical wrestling and impressive aerial spots - including her amazing finisher The O-Face, a diving, rotating stunner from the top rope.
After years of bringing in women with no pro wrestling background or only a few dates on larger indies like Shimmer or Shine, Athena is part of a wave of more experience females being signed by Triple H, along with Asuka and Billie Kay, with whom she's worked several times.
In addition to Athena and Busick, the company has reportedly brought in CZW regular Bandido, Jr (real name Eddie Orengo) to work as a referee.
What do you think of these moves, Cagesiders?
