Rumor Look Back: Feb 16 - Feb 22, 2015

Welcome to the weekly Rumor Look Back, where we take a look at the hot rumors from six months ago. So take a quick break from everything SummerSlam and take a quick trip back in time.

February 16, 2015

It is expected Hulk Hogan will make his return to television soon. Likely the Raw after Fast Lane

Hulk’s next appearance was March 23rd with Sasha Banks’ cousin Snoop Dogg where they humiliated Curtis Axel. Is over a month later soon in this case? I’m going to say no. (0/1)

By the way, I only like to use WWE approved videos. And while searching, I had a brain fart wondering why I couldn’t find this video on the WWE YouTube. Then I remembered.

It is unlikely Bill Goldberg will ever back to WWE for a match. It is more likely he’ll accept an offer form Glory to do a kickboxing match.

Well the WWE thing is true for now, but let’s give that some time. The Glory one I had to do a quick look for. He has not yet, but in this interview on SportsKeeda from June, he was still thinking heavily considering it. Since June wasn’t far away, both of these will go in the outstanding column for a little bit

It looks like David Otunga may be back with WWE on a permanent basis, taking Alex Riley’s place as an analyst.

Otunga is still doing the Raw Pre-Shows. (1/1)

According to reports, Eddie Edwards suffered a leg injury during TNA tapings.

The reports were true as he broke his heel and they had to vacate the tag titles, which the Hardys ended up winning. Then Jeff Hardy broke his leg and the Wolves won the titles back after they vacated them. (1/1)

It is expected that TNA and Wrestle-1 will make a joint announcement in the near future.

When I googled "TNA" and "Wrestle 1" and limited the search to be between 2/16 and 4/15, nothing came up. There was no announcement. (0/1)

February 17, 2015

There is talk that at Fast Lane it will be revealed that Bray Wyatt’s promos are directed at Undertaker, though there is no plan to have the Phenom actually appear.

That was all true. Bray came out in a coffin. It was pretty cool, though unfortunately, it was as cool as it would get the next five weeks. (2/2)

Now there’s talk that Seth Rollins will lose his Money in the Bank cash in due to the nude photo scandal.

He won his cash in during the main event at WrestleMania. (0/1)

NXT Commentator Rich Brennan may be replacing Tom Phillips on WWE Superstars to announce alongside Renee Young

I checked last week’s Superstars and one from month prior and Rich Brennan is play by play. What’s surprising is Renee Young is not there. Have they given up on the Renee Young announcing plan? What’s even more surprising is that Rich Brennan does not have a Wikipedia. (1/1)

Mason Ryan could sign with TNA soon.

He has not. (0/1)

February 18, 2015

There are some within WWE who think there’s a very real chance they can re-sign Lesnar. If that’s the case, that may affect booking going forward.

They did re-sign him. How that affected booking, we may never know. (1/1)

WWE may add another match or two for Fast Lane. One may be a six-man tag.

They did add a six-man tag involving Seth Rollins, Kane, Big Show vs. Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, and Erick Rowan. I watched Fast Lane and have absolutely no recollection of that match. Must have been a barnburner. (2/2)

WWE trademarked the name "Redneck Reppin’ Company" and it is possible it will be a stable name.

There is no stable by that name. I wonder if they were planning that for Dawson and Wilder in NXT. (0/1)

February 19, 2015

Apparently Triple H is interested in Samoa Joe and he could be a big player in NXT. However it is unlikely he’ll have any impact on the main roster. Though he may just work the indie scene because it is more lucrative

So here we have a rumor that contradicts itself at points. So he signed with NXT and is featured well. He has not made any impact on the main roster yet, though there was word at one point that Vince is interested. This part of the rumor will go in the outstanding column. Because he signed a WWE exclusive contract, he is not working the indies. (1/2)

The next batch of NXT call-ups will come shortly after WrestleMania and could involve Sami Zayn, Charlotte, Adrian Neville, and Finn Balor.

Zayn isn’t up at all and neither is Balor. Charlotte has debuted, but I would not consider it shortly after WrestleMania. Neville debuted the Raw after Mania along with the Lucha Dragons. (1/4)

It’s looking like the Fabulous Freebirds are the top candidate for the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016.

Nothing has been announced yet. Steve Austin called for it on his podcast recently.

The Observer noted that perhaps Zahra Schreiber might be paired with Baron Corbin because they have a similar look.

Wow. A lot of stuff to go to the outstanding column this week. I’ll hold this out until her debut.

February 20, 2015

Randy Orton has been removed from adverts for upcoming TV tapings but the plan is still for him to face Rollins at WrestleMania.

That was the Mania match. He also returned to TV two days from this. (1/1)

While Stardust and Goldust are booked for Fast Lane, that does not rule out a match for WrestleMania. It could still happen and act as Goldust’s retirement match.

It did not happen and instead, Stardust was in the Intercontinental title ladder match. Goldust is currently injured and his career status is not clear at that point. I expect him to come back and retire on his own terms. (0/1)

February 21, 2015

There is at least some talk that Cena vs. Rusev will go on last at Fast Lane.

Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan went on last, which is absolutely the correct call. (0/1)

There’s a chance Undertaker appears as Fast Lane to get the idea over that anything can happen on the WWE Network.

It did not happen. So I suppose not everything can happen on the Network. (0/1)

Jeff Jarrett is apparently planning a GFW announcement, likely around WrestleMania.

The day after WrestleMania, Jarrett announced the GFW TV tapings. One those tapings has already happened and there’s still no TV deal (1/1)
