John Cena and the Yankees surprise the son of a Charleston shooting victim

John Cena is using his role as "Today" guest host to bring joy to more people.

All this week, John Cena is co-hosting the Today show. It should come as no surprise that part of his temporary job is helping put smiles on faces. Monday morning, Today shared the story of Chris Singleton, an outfielder at Charleston Southern University whose mother, Sharonda, was killed in the Charleston church shooting in June.

Cena talked at length about how much Singleton inspired him and then brought out Yankees players Alex Rodriguez, Brett Gardner and Dellin Betances. He then dropped the news that not only will Chris be attending Monday night's Yankees game, he'll be throwing out the first pitch. Cena also took the time to assert to Singleton that he believes he will make it to the major leagues.

John Cena is a one-man inspiration crew. We could all use the champ telling us to believe in ourselves more often. A great gesture and a great moment from Cena and the Yankees organization.
