WWE SmackDown preview (July 30, 2015): Using all three dimensions

Want to know what is definitely happening on tonight's SmackDown from Tulsa, Oklahoma? Peep our spoiler post.

On Thursday mornings, we'll dig into the mid-card, the interesting and/or horrible stuff happening on the fringe away from your John Cenas and Brock Lesnars. Plus, pretend for a spoiler-free minute that we're the Legendary Teddy Long and guess at the blue brand's patented tag match of the week!

Feud Owens Feud

With his pursuit of John Cena's United States championship ended due to an unspoken "two out of three" rule, and Cena's kayfabe ability to book himself straight into the WWE championship program against Seth Rollins (a move he may regret since it lead to his moneymaker getting smooshed), Kevin Owens now has some time on his hands while waiting for his rematch against current NXT champ Finn Bálor next month in Brooklyn.

An internet darling who seems to be climbing the booking ladder (again) while KO slips down a notch or two has taken issue with the former NXT champ's heelish ways. Both times, it's resulted in a Pop-Up Powerbomb for Cesaro.

What they should do: Stop teasing us, WWE, and make this thing official! SummerSlam is now a four hour show, there's got to be ten minutes for these guys, even with Undertaker's entrance, Green Arrow and shots of John Olerud, Freeway & whatever other C-list celebrities they can get to sit in the crowd.

What we're afraid they'll do: Pre-show this feud, complete with Cesaro cutting promos about his fear of snakes.

"You know damn well where Los Matadores are from"

Who knows what exactly is going on with the tag division, but it sure is entertaining. Diego, Fernando & El Torito are acting like rudos so that Lucha Dragons have someone to tangle with...and maybe tag champs Prime Time Players as well?

Former champs The New Day can't stop skipping their way to the ring to mess with Titus O'Neil & Darren Young - even when they're just at the commentary desk. Their distraction on Raw helped Kalisto & Sin Cara to a pinfall victory over Los Matadores, and since I can't see Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods allying themselves with the Dragons...I guess all eight of these guys (and one small bull) hate each other now?

What they should do: Anything that puts Woods and O'Neil in the ring for a promo duel. We've seen myriad examples of both men being charming and inventively funny. Now, we should get to see them riff off each other. It should be in between the ropes just so we can watch Big E skip there.

What we're afraid they'll do: Force The Ascension into the mix. The Ascension ruins everything.

Dog Ziggler. Get it?

Because everyone has to decide how they feel about the Rusev/Summer Rae/Lana story on their own, we present this with no very little comment:

Rusev fish

The Theodore Long Honorary Tag Match goes to...

For the second week in a row, the spoiler headline ruins my pick. Totally though the end of the lackluster Owens vs. Randy Orton bout would lead to another chance to see that Giant Swing-into-RKO finishing combo, but knowing that Cesaro has a date with the WWE champ ruins that.

Plus, Roman Reigns mysterious (and unmentioned) absence from our screens on Monday night probably means we won't be getting a dose of Thursday night's favorite bro-mance.

So let's figure on another one of the pairs bouts that have become a staple of the so-called Divas Revolution. We also know that Becky Lynch's battle with Nikki Bella that was announced for tonight turned into BEX against Brie on Main Event, but maybe a couple of the B.A.D. girls against a job squad team of Rosa & Cameron? They can't keep giving the factions wins over each other, and we know neither Paige or Alicia Fox will be on SmackDown this week.

It might not make for good wrestling, but at least they'll be wrestling.

(Note: I know some folks have come looking for a more definitive match listing - that will be posted behind spoiler text in the comments. If WWE.com releases more information on anything that's officially going to take place on tonight's show, that'll be updated here)
