The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the SummerSlam show set to take place on Sun., Aug. 23, 2015, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This will mark the first time in six years the company will hold this event outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and the promotion is doing all it can to load the line-up.
We're still a full month out from showtime and just one match is official for the show so far. There are plenty of rumors, however.
- Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
"The Phenom" returned at Battleground to cost Lesnar his match with Seth Rollins for the WWE world heavyweight championship. The next night on Raw he cut a promo explaining that Paul Heyman's relentless bragging about breaking the streak is what led to his coming back for revenge.
The rest of these matches are currently rumored but not official and, of course, could change over the coming weeks:
- Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (WWE/US championship)
This past Monday night on Raw, Cena answered a Rollins promo calling him out for being a terrible champion and seemingly setting up a program between the two.
- The Wyatt Family vs. Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose
There are rumors floating around that the current Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper) could add a third member, which would lead to Reigns and Ambrose calling in the ultimate reinforcement: Sting.
- Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D. vs. Team Powerbuff Girls
The three teams have been feuding since Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch were called up from NXT. It only makes sense to run a triple threat tag match.
- Ryback vs. Big Show (Intercontinental championship)
They were supposed to have a match -- along with The Miz -- at Battleground for the title before THE BIG GUY went down with a staph infection. He should be back in time for this event. Since then, Show has squashed Miz, so he appears to be out of the picture.
- Prime Time Players vs. New Day (Tag team championship)
This would simply continue the feud they've been having over the tag titles.
- Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens
KO cost Cesaro the US title on multiple occasions, and the two traded insults and physicality on SmackDown last week.
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
Ziggler should be through filming his movie by this time and that means he'll be back to settle up with Rusev, who took him out of action in an injury angle weeks ago.
That's all we know so far. Your thoughts, Cagesiders?
