Denzel Washington's Connection to WWE's The Miz

Former champion's future revealed. Plus, Week 17 of the Wrestler Wrankings!

Denzel Washington is one of the greatest actors in the world, starring in many iconic movies throughout his career, including Philadelphia, Cry Freedom and Flight. Early in his career he won an Academy Award for his memorable role as a former slave in the Civil War historical drama, Glory. Over a decade later and after many other memorable roles, he won another Academy Award, this time for top billing in the gritty crime opus, Training Day.

The point is, Denzel has always been great, but it took many years for him to again be awarded his profession's highest honor after receiving it early in his career.

Remind you of anyone?

The name that pops instantly to mind when making a comparison to Denzel is, of course, WWE's own: The Miz!

Like Denzel, The Miz was awarded the highest honor in his profession, the WWE Championship, relatively early in his career. He then proceeded to put in a number of great years in WWE, without holding the title. Mark my words, Miz will hold that title again later in his career, just like Denzel hoisted that Oscar for a second time. You heard it here first!

Both A-Listers are paragons of both the Hollywood scene as well as the black community, so they are easily compared. Of course, Miz is both a great wrestler as well as a movie star, while Denzel is merely a movie star. By that logic Miz is, perhaps, the greater overall presence on world culture.
