You know that guy everybody's talking about in WWE, Kevin Owens? Well, he's been pretty awesome for a long time.
Did you know that his feud in NXT with that guy who answered John Cena's U.S. title open challenge on Raw in Montreal, Sami Zayn, was based on a program he did in Ring of Honor (ROH) with a luchador who at the very least heavily influenced everyone's favorite Syrian-Canadian former NXT champ?
Well, if you didn't know those things and/or have been wanting to see what the ROH product is all about, the company has a great deal going until tomorrow (Saturday, June 27) at 9AM Eastern. You can see the culmination of Kevin Steen (Owens) vs. El Generico (very much like Sami Zayn) in a ladder match at Final Battle '12 on Video on Demand (VOD) for only $1.99!
This is a guano-crazy bout that wrapped up one of my all-time favorite feuds. And there's a lot of other interesting stuff on the card, too.
It's early in the return of current ROH World & TV champ Jay Lethal, and features him in a showdown with now-NXT mainstay Rhyno. One of the current best tag teams in the world is featured at the beginning of their partnership, as Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish face another great team in Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards. There's a chance to see WWE Creative team member Jimmy Jacobs & ECW legend and ROH announcer Steve Corino at the mega-heel best against The Briscoes. And a man many feel is one of the most WWE-ready stars in the world, Adam Cole, was featured before he took the company's top strap.
Of course, if you want to do Steen/Generico right, you should go back at least to Final Battle 2010, but really, there's no wrong way to do it. And at $1.99, I don't think anyone is going to complain about a few hours spent with the 2012 edition of the event.
Here's the hype video for the whole show, the first half of which is dedicated to catching you up for Ladder War IV:
