Welcome back to the Rumor Look Back, the piece where we look back at Rumors from 6 months ago, see how they played out, and the points don’t matter.*
Let’s get to it.
While not a given, Brock Lesnar is expected to re-sign with the WWE
Looked worrisome for a while, but he finally did. (1/1)
2015 could be the year Randy Savage is finally elected to the WWE Hall of Fame.
The cream finally rose to the top. (1/1)
While Jericho is confirmed to work some house shows, it is not expected he will be working the run up to WrestleMania nor the show itself.
Jericho was not one of the part timers involved in Mania this year. (1/1)
The Observer believes that a deal between TNA and Destination America is in place an announcement will be soon
It was announced on the 19th. And 6 months later there is word that this deal is already finished. Of course, maybe in 6 months those rumors will prove false. We’ll have to wait and see. (1/1)
Word of AJ Lee’s retirement has returned, this time saying she is done after Survivor Series. (Though the rumor itself notes she’s booked on shows into December.)
While AJ would retire within 6 months of this, she did work after Survivor Series. (0/1)
It looks like Roman Reigns will return the Raw right after TLC or the Raw after that one.
He actually returned at TLC. (0/1)
Wrestling or not, Daniel Bryan is expected to start making more appearances for WWE on the build to the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.
He did. He debuted the last Monday of the year and announced he’s back. And within 6 months, our hearts are yet again broken because he is back out with doubt he’ll ever return. (1/1)
Word is TNA will announce their TV deal Wednesday (the following day from this.)
And they did. (1/1)
Word has it that Alberto del Rio has been telling people he will be working for both Lucha Underground and TNA.
I would have liked to see del Rio/Patron in TNA. Of course, the questionable status of the company makes it a good move that he did not. He is on LU. (1/2)
Word is Sheamus is not really injured and they were just writing him off for the Survivor Series match
He was injured. He tweeted out a picture of himself from his hospital bed prior to surgery. (0/1)
There is speculation that Maryse will be returning to the WWE.
That has not yet happened. I’m going to grade this negative but if she pops up any time soon, I’ll retract. (0/1)
Today is the day that TNA will announce their TV deal with Destination America.
This is one repetitive rumor. (1/1)
It is expected that WWE will shoot a major angle at Survivor Series asides from the main event since it’s a free PPV
The big angle actually happened during the main event. Sting finally debuted on this show. And it was awesome. (1/1)
Seth Rollins will be working a TLC match at the TLC PPV.
He worked a tables match against John Cena. The TLC match went to Wyatt and Ambrose. (0/1)
Chris Jericho is apparently negotiating with WWE to work only house shows January and February.
He did. Anybody catch him at one of those house shows? (1/1)
Now that TNA has its deal, word is they will start negotiating contracts that are expired or about.
They did soon start announcing new deals with a slew of wrestlers. (1/1)
Austin is a possibility for a Raw GM if the Authority goes out of power.
It is a rumor that the Rumor Round Up itself said was unlikely. But they reported it because that’s what they do. And graded it because that’s what I do. (0/1)
Bad News Barrett won’t likely be wrestling in January. He’ll likely address the timetable during the Survivor Series kick off show
He returned in December. At the Survivor Series show he did not talk about his timetable for return. He did dole out some bad news. (0/2)
Rumor is Sting will show up tomorrow at Survivor Series and be involved in the Main Event.
True on both accounts. This was probably my favorite Sting in WWE moment we got. (2/2)
The situation is if AJ Lee loses the Divas Title on Sunday at Survivor Series, it could be a sign that she is leaving shortly after. WWE thinks she is staying
So this one is more vague because "shortly after" could be interpreted as within a month or so or within 6 months. She did lose her rematch for the Diva’s title at TLC, took a hiatus, and then returned for WrestleMania. Screw it; I’ll grade this as correct. Now that I think about it, I’m starting to miss seeing AJ in WWE. (1/1)
Word is TNA and Destination America are having meetings about their big launch and are going to change the look and feel of the company.
I’ve opted not to grade this because "Changed look and feel" is vague. They don’t look or feel that different than they did on Spike. I wonder if these were the meetings where they decided to work Dave Meltzer.
