CM Punk should be ready for UFC debut 'in another six months'

It's been five months since CM Punk signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC. In that time, he's found a gym and got rolling on the arduous process of getting himself ready for his first professional mixed martial arts bout. But how much closer is he to actually stepping inside the Octagon?

He told our very own SB Nation he thinks he'll be ready in about another six months or so:

"You know, as long as I'm getting better one percent every day, I'm happy. And I feel it's never less than that, so I think I'm doing good. My trainers, I don't think they're blowing smoke up my ass, they tell me when I do stuff bad, and we work on [it]. In another six months, I should be ready to go, but [laughs] ... don't take it from me! It's out of my hands. It's up to my trainers."

That would mean fighting around the end of the year, possibly the big blowout December card the UFC likes to put on each year, and would line up with his initial projection.

But, as he said, we'll see what his trainers have to say about it.

Meanwhile, Jason David Frank is still shouting into the void with his latest bizarre video calling Punk out, as the straight edge star was again dismissive of the possibility of a fight between the two ever coming together:

"Eh. Skip it. Next question."

It's not morphing time after all.

But, in another six months, it could be clobbering time.

Getting excited yet?
