NXT live specials on the WWE Network won't run monthly after all

New, comments

Just yesterday, WWE sent out a press release touting new programming coming to the WWE Network. That press release included the following bit indicating NXT would run monthly live two-hour specials:

NXT TAKEOVER - LIVE! - AIRS MONTHLY ON WEDNESDAYS
The future is here. WWE's hottest up-and-coming Superstars compete to prove they've got what it takes. More than just evolution, it's a revolution! Witness these WWE Superstars of tomorrow as they take over WWE Network with live two-hour specials.

Now, however, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE has decided to keep the NXT specials running on the same schedule they have been, quarterly, and the wording in the press release would be updated accordingly.

Here's what it says now:

NXT TAKEOVER - LIVE! - AIRS QUARTERLY
The future is here. WWE's hottest up-and-coming Superstars compete to prove they've got what it takes. More than just evolution, it's a revolution! Witness these WWE Superstars of tomorrow as they take over WWE Network with live two-hour specials.

There you have it.

NXT gets just one hour of television each Wednesday night, so the quarterly schedule works well to ensure as many wrestlers as possible on the roster get programs and stories to build to pay off at the next live special. Going monthly would have greatly effected that.

Thoughts?
