Jerry Lawler calls report that Eva Marie is replacing him as WWE Hall of Fame host a 'BS rumor'

WWE.com

Still not sure what to expect when the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony airs on the Network tomorrow night at 8PM Eastern time from SAP Center in San Jose, California. But yesterday's bombshell that Eva Marie would replace Jerry Lawler was out as the event's host never seemed to make a whole lot of sense.

According to Bill Apter and The King himself, that's because it's not true.

Upon hearing the news on this and other dirty, dirty screens, the legendary wrestling journalist reached out to his good friend Lawler. The Smackdown commentator not only hadn't heard the reports, but he promptly texted Apter to tell him it was a "BS rumor".

You can see Bill tell the story here on the YouTube channel for 1Wrestling.com:

Mike Johnson at PWInsider, who originally issued the report, stands by his sources (which are the same ones who told him Sting would debut at Survivor Series) - but in the wake of the Apter video says that he is also hearing The King is back in as host.

As I said in the comments to our story on the report yesterday, I could see Eva Marie in a supporting role to Lawler - possibly replacing the Bella Twins in their role walking inductees to and from the podium, or even co-hosting - but a move to have a woman they don't even trust to ring announce at house shows emcee a keystone WrestleMania weekend event seemed outrageous - even for WWE.

Who knows what went on, or is still going on, backstage with this story.  It's probably best to wait for an official announcement from the 'E, or simply for the show to start, to see what everyone's role is.

What do you make of all this, gang?
