It's going to be hard to top last week's show, which featured a Match of the Year candidate in Mil Muertes and Fenix's casket match, but Lucha Underground aims to try.
To that end they're featuring not one but two championship matches tonight (March 25, 2015). The AAA Mega Heavyweight title will be on the line when Alberto El Patrón defends against Texano in a bullrope match. Then, Prince Puma and Konnan look for revenge against Cage in a Boyle Heights street fight:
If that's not enough, Son of Havoc will try to make Angélico pay for his un-gentlemanly treatment of his woman when they go one-on-one tonight. And Dario Cueto inks another deal that brings a new hoss to his Temple:
Hernandez has never been a personal favorite, but LU has made me a fan of a few other performers I disliked when they worked for other promotions, so I'm curious to see what they can do with them.
In fact, tonight's show is full of opportunites for the booking team to address some weak spots. Prince Puma has been off television for a while and not even the focus of his comeback videos. The first El Patrón match on this show was okay, but not much more than that. And lots of folks found the match between Ivelisse and her man's South African rival to be in poor taste.
There's also word that a tribute to Perro Aguayo, Jr. that occured at this weekend's tapings may make this episode.
Tune in tonight at 8PM Eastern on El Rey, or Saturday at 4PM on UniMás, or whenever on Sling TV to find out.
