Roman Reigns' Reevaluation (2015)

His name is Roman Reigns and Cageside Seats readers have reported back on what they love and loathe about the former Shield member. Here's the full evaluation.

WWE.com

What you loved:

  1. "It" Factor - He's got the physical charisma, the hair, and that wink...
  2. In-Ring - Has a moveset (superman punch/apron kick/spear) that ignites the crowd, and sets himself apart from most of the roster.
  3. Potential - For all the complaints, a fair share of you "believe that" with some more time he will be just fine.
  4. Less is More - WWE loves having its top guy on the mic (Hogan/Cena), but maybe take the Sting approach with Reigns. He doesn't have to say much to get his point across, and it's so much better.
  5. The Shield - When the group turned face and took on Evolution, crowds went absolutely nuts for them.

Best comment comes via BrassCitySaint:

"For all intents and purposes, Roman has the aesthetic of a main eventer. He has a natural charisma, a strong presence, and a few explosive moves which distinguish him from the rest of the roster. If you’re wondering why so many pegged him as a future main eventer, you clearly haven’t been watching closely."

What you loathed:

  1. Mic Work - The long-winded, perfectly scripted promos need to go. Please, don't let Vince McMahon write any more of his material.
  2. Early Big Push - This is a big reason why people are so critical of Reigns. If he was just working his way up the card, the venom spit his way wouldn't be nearly as bad as it is now. Being pushed as the face of the company brings more criticism. Give it another year and maybe his connection with the fans will improve. Totally random stat: Including house shows in 2015, Reigns is 45-2 and Cena is 32-3.
  3. Story - Leading up to WrestleMania, it's been tough to really get behind Reigns. After The Shield broke up, he got injured, and did way too many satellite interviews. Fans hate satellite interviews! Then, to a chorus of boos, he won the...
  4. Royal Rumble - Rock's expressions explain this just fine.
  5. Vest - Some of you just plain don't like it or feel the vest is outdated. Since Reigns is no longer in The Shield, a make-over seems very appropriate.

Best comment comes via Jimmy_MacUK:

"You can’t hate on the guy for being pushed prematurely, but the chinks in his armor that were concealed by his Shield comrades have been woefully exposed. Much like Cena in 2005/6, his lack of in-ring prowess is holding him back from being truly embraced by the fans, but – unlike Cena – his mic skills also require plenty of work. 12 months from now he may be ready, but for now let’s hope Brock re-signs and we’re spared a bomb of a title run and hasty transition to Rollins which would waste a heck of a potential feud between the former Shield members."

On to the poll! With 713 votes, Roman Reigns' average score is 3.1. Last year he received a 4.2.

Thanks, Cagesiders! Tomorrow's pick will *bleep* you up.

Until then!
