WWE announced during Monday's RAW that Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Dean Ambrose at the TLC pay-per-view on Dec. 13.
The match was in jeopardy, pending the outcome of Roman Reigns' Beat the Clock Challenge during RAW. Had Reigns failed to beat Sheamus in under five minutes and 15 seconds, he would have lost not only his championship opportunity at TLC, but Ambrose's I-C title match, as well. Luckily, things worked out for Ambrose.
Ambrose won a triple threat match against Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze on the Thanksgiving edition of SmackDown to become the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship. If you needed additional oomph to Ambrose's chase for the belt, he defeated Owens in the semifinals of the recent world title tournament at Survivor Series.
This feud has been coming for some time now. Rumor has it the program between Owens and Ambrose for the Intercontinental strap was initially set to start at Survivor Series. Those original plans, of course, came before Seth Rollins' injury forced a tournament for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The current card for WWE TLC 2015:

WWE World Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: The New Day (c) vs. The Usos vs. Lucha Dragons
