Well, I guess we know one guy that won't be returning to Lucha Underground for season two.
Alberto Del Rio (no longer El Patron) appeared to answer John Cena's United States championship open challenge. It shocked the Los Angeles crowd, especially since he was introduced by his old nemesis Zeb Colter - himself returning to WWE television for the first time in a long time.
But nothing like the shock at seeing Del Rio, a former WWE and World Heavyweight champ - and AAA's current Mega campeon, and recently Puerto Rico's WWL champ until last month when the title was vacated... perhaps in prepartation for this move. He was released by Vince McMahon's company after assaulting a corporate marketing executive who had allegedly made racist comments about Del Rio and Latinos, and has worked for many companies, including Ring of Honor, since leaving.
There's been much talk, in general and surrounding their recent tour of Mexico, about WWE's desire to have a top Hispanic star. It looks like they went and got one they'd made in the past.
More as we have it on this big story, Cagesiders.
