The Gods and Goddesses of The Temple of Lucha Underground

A week ago, I made a joke saying with all the praise this site gives to a certain El Rey Network show whose secodn season will debut in 2016, we might as well rename it "The Church of Lucha Underground".

Brigade17, being the wise sage he is, told me a more apt name would be "The Temple of Lucha Underground". That got me thinking: if the wrestlers in LU were gods and goddesses, of what would they be the gods and goddesses?

So here are who they would be and what they would represent.

Oh, and some of this analysis comes from the LU finale Ultima Lucha so if you aren't caught up (Brigade this is for you buddy) spoiler warning.

Elemental Gods

1. Drago - God of Fire. Being Billed from the inferno and quite possibly being an actual dragon in disguise this impressive luchador, with an equally impressive mask to match, sets the world ablaze with his control over fire.

2. Aerostar - God of Air/Sky. This high flying luchador feels almost at home while performing death defying leaps, jumps, and other high flying maneuvers. So it is of no surprise that he is the master of the air.

3. Vampiro - God of Darkness. This lucha LEGEND has been known through out his career as being one of, if not the most, sadistic and dark figures in wrestling history. This was further proven as it was revealed at Ultima Lucha that Pentagon Jr.'s master was none other than this controller of darkness.

Gods of Occurances to Humans

Now by this I mean things that happen in the world like life, death, destruction, etc. Speaking of those first three...

1. God of Life - Fenix. The current LU Gift of the Gods Champion, Fenix is quite an impressive wrestler if I have ever seen one. Standing for the undying Phoenix he truly commands life as seen when he beat Mil Muertes in a Grave Consequence match. Speaking of Mil...

2. Goddess and God of Death - Catrina & Mil Muertes. These two are the gods of death but I should explain how they work together. Catrina decides when you die but has no power to claim you herself. Mil has no power to go claim anyone on his own because he must wait for Catrina's judgement. These two are quite powerful together but weakened by themselves as can be seen by the aforementioned Grave Consequence match and in how when working together Mil captured the Lucha Underground championship from Prince Puma at Ultima Lucha.

3. God of Destruction/Human Sacrifice - Pentagon Jr. This frighteningly powerful, destructive, and remorseless Luchador is the pure embodiment of pain, destruction, and human sacrifice. The man who broke arms and destroyed careers for his dark master Vampiro is in his element when he imposes his power upon the world.

4. God of Opportunity/Wealth/Creator God - Dario Cueto. The LU universe was formed when this god known affectionately as El Jefe used his vast wealth to buy the services of many of the other gods from a primordial deity known as AAA. Since then this god has used his gifts to grant opportunity to those who impress him. Also a very sinister god who loves violence above all else. Not one to fight himself he pits the other gods and goddesses against each other for his amusement.

Gods of Occupations and Human emotions/characteristics

1. God of the Hunter - King Cuerno. This god embodies and protects the spirits of all hunters here in the LU universe.

2. God of the Warrior - Prince Puma. This god embodies the power and gives his protection to all warriors in battle. He is quite powerful as he was the first Lucha Underground champion.

3. Goddess of Bravery - Sexy Star. This goddess shows no fear in getting in the ring with any opponent including the god of destruction Pentagon Jr.. Her bravery is unmatched as she stands defiantly against those who wrong her or her friends.

4. Goddess of the Heralds - Melissa Santos. The goddess who proudly proclaims the arrival of all the other coming gods she is quite the important person in LU.

And that's my list if you feel like I left someone out leave them in the comments and tell me who you think they are the god/goddess of.
