The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 25, 2015, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the company's annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to the WWE world heavyweight championship.
We're three weeks out from showtime and so far two matches have been made official.
- Royal Rumble
This is the big one, folks. It will be a 30-man match this year, despite early reports to the contrary, and there are now two entrants in the match. Roman Reigns was the first to declare followed by the surprise announcement that Daniel Bryan will make his long awaited return in this match.
- Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena (WWE world heavyweight title)
For the third time in the last six PPV's, these two will battle over the title. They have split those meetings, though Cena's win came by way of disqualification. The match is being promoted as the final showdown between the two.
WWE has yet to indicate any other potential matches for the card nor any additional entrants in the Rumble, though obviously there will be at least 28 more. The Authority will resume their role as the power brokers tomorrow night on Raw. We will undoubtedly learn much more then.
