The seeds were planted when Alberto El Patrón made his first ROH TV appearance a couple of weeks back. The hottest free agent in pro wrestling greeting the Ring of Honor (ROH) faithful with a really strong babyface promo, declaring his intention to shoot for the ROH World title. But he was interupted by the long reigning Television title holder and his manager. Jay Lethal took offense to Alberto overlooking the belt he holds, but Truth Martini wouldn't let the champ face El Patrón for free.
Which, because...heels, was just a set-up for the greatest first generation wrestler to slap the son of Dos Caras across the face and have his boys J Diesel and Martini put the boots to him.
Now, after some highly anticipated warm-up matches for the former Alberto Del Rio (against Christopher Daniels and ACH), the former WWE champ will make his pay-per-view (PPV) debut for ROH by challenging Lethal for the Television Championship he's held for nearly a year.
They're the second announced match for March 1st's 13th Anniversary show from Las Vegas, joining a 4 Corner Survival Match for the World title where champ Jay Briscoe will defend against Michael Elgin, Tommaso Ciampa and Hanson.
A list of cable and satellite providers who will be carrying the show on PPV can be found here.
Who's excited to see Alberto on pay television again? What else are you expecting for ROH's next big show?
