The Rock helped Roman Reigns win the Royal Rumble last night in Philadelphia, last eliminating Rusev, and gave his cousin a glowing endorsement in front of all the fans at the Wells Fargo Center. It didn't seem to matter. Rock was cheered all the way up until he was next to Reigns, at which point he was ignored in favor of booing Roman.
Immediately after all this, the two were caught backstage by Tom Phillips to give the interview you see above. It's bizarre to say the least.
Oh sure, it's typical Rock schtick but he's quite clearly off his game, stumbling through an interview he would usually ace. He's also doing a lot of speaking for the guy who is going to headline WrestleMania this year, and while that shouldn't be a bad thing in theory it didn't work in practice.
Also, Roman's laugh at the 2:18 mark is maybe the creepiest thing in the world.
Either way, this only seemed to make worse what so many felt was such a disaster of a night.
