17 years ago today on RAW is WAR from State College, Pennsylvania, The Rock ‘n Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) were awarded the NWA World Tag Team Championship. In their first bout as champions, the Disciples of Apocalaypse (Skull & 8-Ball) defeated the Express by disqualification in a non-title match.

On the same episode, Mark Henry turned heel for the first time in his career when he turned on Ken Shamrock during a tag match involving the two against The Nation of Domination's The Rock & D-Lo Brown.

17 years ago today on Nitro from Jacksonville, Florida, The Outsiders (Scott Hall & Kevin Nash) defeated The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott) to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship.


TNA One Night Only X-Travaganza Part 1 by wrestlingcity

2 years ago today, TNA taped One Night Only: X-Travaganza, a one-night showcase of X-Division talent. The show first aired on April 5.

  • Christian York defeated Alex Silva, Jimmy Rave, Lince Dorado, Matt Bentley, Puma & Sam Shaw in an Xscape elimination match.
  • Douglas Williams & Kid Kash defeated Rashad Cameron & Anthony Nese.
  • Chavo Guerrero defeated Robbie E. Joseph Park was the special referee.
  • Kenny King defeated Mason Andrews, Rubix, and Zema Ion in an Ultimate X match.
  • Christopher Daniels & Kazarian defeated Petey Williams & Sonjay Dutt.
  • Rob Van Dam defeated Jerry Lynn in a no disqualification match. It would be the last bout between the long-time rivals, as Lynn retired a few months later.
  • Austin Aries defeated Samoa Joe.


TNA One Night Only Jokers Wild Part 1 by wrestlingcity

2 years ago today, TNA taped One Night Only: Joker's Wild from the Impact Zone at Universal Orlando. The show, first airing on May 3, harkened back to the days of the Battlebowl: Lethal Lottery events WCW held in the early 1990s. 24 were names were put in a hopper, with teams paired up at random. The winning teams advanced to a gauntlet battle royal for a winner take all prize of $100,000.

  • Christian York & James Storm defeat Crimson & Gunner
  • Jessie Godderz & Mr. Anderson defeat Douglas Williams & Kid Kash
  • Christopher Daniels & Samoa Joe defeat Chavo Guerrero & Rob Van Dam
  • Bobby Roode & Joseph Park defeat Robbie E & Zema Ion
  • Devon & DOC defeat Alex Silva & Hernandez
  • Matt Morgan & Robbie T defeat Al Snow & Joey Ryan

  • James Storm won the Joker's Wild Gauntlet Battle Royal, last eliminating Bobby Roode and Devon. Storm, Roode, and Devon were the first three entered in the match.
