Rumor Roundup (Jan. 10, 2015): Why Jerry Lawler was taken off Raw, AJ Lee return, plans for Dolph Ziggler & more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • WWE has wanted to remove Jerry Lawler from Raw for some time, but that goodwill following his on-air heart attack made an ouster impossible.  The Smackdown move to Thursday was the excuse to do it without making it feel like a demotion.
  • AJ Lee is being advertised for a WWE Supershow the night before Royal Rumble in her home state of New Jersery, which will undoubtedly kick off a new round of rumors about when she'll be leaving be good.
  • Word is that David Otunga is in Tennessee for this weekend's house shows, so Jennifer Hudson's man is still a WWE contracted performer.  If he wrestles, it will be his first time in the ring since the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30 last spring.
  • Maria Kanellis and her husband, Michael Bennett, are said to be working without contracts for Ring of Honor (ROH).  They're booked with the promotion for a few more months and will be heading to Japan on some gigs that ROH helped set up, but they may also be talking to TNA and Lucha Underground about their futures.
  • Erick Rowan, Ryback & Dolph Ziggler were fired in-story on the past episode of Raw, but - surprise! - should be back before January is out.  All three are expected to be in the Royal Rumble match, and therefore back at or before that pay-per-view (PPV).

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
