Rumor Roundup (Sept. 8, 2014): Brock Lesnar plans, Daniel Bryan return, Cheap Pops, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Brock Lesnar is still expected to defeat John Cena in their rematch at Night of Champions, possibly with interference from The Authority to set up his next program.
  • Regarding Lesnar's next opponent, this may be the most infuriating rumor you'll read. His next expected opponent, who would be challenging for the WWE world heavyweight championship? BIG SHOW. Yes, BIG SHOW. We put the disclaimers all over this post so you know not to simply take all this as fact but we'll say it again just to make ourselves feel better: this is just a rumor for now and it's not guaranteed this is the direction they will go.
  • There's another rumor going around, this one apparently spread by Konnan on MLW, that Daniel Bryan elected to have his surgery when he did because he was told he would be doing the exact same job to Brock Lesnar that John Cena did in the exact same manner he did it. So, perhaps thinking his body couldn't hold up to such a thing, Bryan elected to surgery. Or at least that's the word.
  • Speaking of Bryan, there's another rumor going around that he's been told he won't need another surgery and doctors are letting him heal naturally. It's expected he'll be back by Royal Rumble.
  • Regarding the short lived Cheap Pops YouTube series that WWE released recently and then almost immediately pulled, the word is that happened because it was a far better product than the WWE Network exclusive Slam City. Not sure how plausible that is, but there you go.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
