Rumor Roundup (Sept. 22, 2014): Roman Reigns injury, Dean Ambrose return, WWE teaser, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • It's being said that Dean Ambrose was always going to return last night to attack Seth Rollins and it was just a matter of how they would get there. Roman Reigns having emergency surgery, while incredibly unfortunate, paved the way for the version of events we saw last night. There was even a script written up before the Reigns' surgery that had the match never taking place, according to the Observer.
  • Regarding WWE claiming Reigns could be out for "several months", that appears to be an overexaggeration to play up his returning sooner than that. They're expecting him back in about a month.
  • The big announcement WWE has been teasing for Raw tonight, which has included Sting tweeting about it, is something for the WWE 2K15 video game as opposed to anything to do with NXT talent being called up. That said, NXT wrestlers are still scheduled to work the show.
  • TNA may be announcing a new television deal sometime over the next week. That's been said before, of course, but that's the current word going around.
  • Gail Kim's contract with TNA is apparently expiring soon and she may not be brought back.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
