The main event of tonight's (Sun., Sept. 21, 2014) Night of Champions pay-per-view (PPV) at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee was a rematch from SummerSlam only this time Brock Lesnar came in as WWE world heavyweight champion and John Cena was the challenger.
The first match was a ruthless beating.
The second was something similar.
They started hot, as expected. This time, Cena was the one to hit a finisher in the opening moments, delivering an AA after a clothesline into a pinfall attempt. Unlike Lesnar, however, Cena only got a one count and barely even that much.
Then it was back to the destruction.
That was until Cena found his openings. They were there, and this time he exploited them, at least as much as he could. That included multiple AA's, and a couple submission attempts. Each time, however, Lesnar was able to kick out and or simply power out.
Then, Cena hit a fourth and a fifth AA. And just as he was about to get the pinfall, Seth Rollins ran in and broke it up. Then he hit the Curb Stomp on Lesnar and attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.
However, Cena interrupted that and chased him off, upset that he was so close to victory and had it taken from him. Lesnar recovered enough to deliver a parting F-5, and there's your finish.
Wow.
