The latest round of tapings for Spike TV (for now)'s TNA Impact have been taking place this week in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. That not being, you know, New York City, reports on the proceedings have been a little slow to become available. Attendance, you see, isn't quite the standing room-only crowds we got from The Manhattan Center Ballroom:
But that doesn't mean that we haven't had some big news from these shows!
- Geno brought word the other night of former WWE Superstar Brodus Clay debuting for TNA, and now we know what his name will be for his new employer. "Tyrus" will be playing the role vacated by ECW veteran Rhino as Ethan Carter III's hired muscle. It looks like EC3's split with Spud is official, as well, and the British Bootcamp winner is turning face to fight the kayfabe nephew of his "Queen", Dixie Carter. Former World champ Eric Young looks to be siding with Spud in the program.
- Knockouts action saw the Gail Kim and HAVOK feud over the title take up three matches: a no contest that provided Gail with a banged up shoulder, followed by a title change and finally another win for the newcomer when Kim called for her rematch. Elsewhere, the Beautiful People have targeted Taryn Terrell. Madison Rayne is also involved in that program, but doesn't seem to picking a side just yet.
- Bobby Roode earned another shot at Bobby Lashley's TNA World title by beating MVP and Kenny King in an elimination match. The It Factor would defeat Lashley for the belt on the second show, in a match refereed by Executive Director Kurt Angle. Angle took several bumps in the match. The new champ is set to face MVP at the last show in Bethlehem tonight.
- There was a tournament to determine the #1 contenders for the tag titles, and the Hardys were in the tournament, even though the blow-off for their series with The Wolves and Team 3D isn't until tonight's Full Metal Mayhem match. Matt & Jeff win, beating a team of Samoa Joe and Low Ki in the finals. So they'll face either Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards or Bully Ray (who was at last night's show, but only to hype up the crowd in a dark segment and match) & Devon at some point in the future.
- The Wolves are also involved in the James Storm Revolution storyline, as the Cowboy has targeted Richards to join Sanada and Manik in his stable. The distraction of all this lead to Storm beating Eddie in a one-on-one match, and Davey still hasn't picked a side.
- Tommy Dreamer made another appearance, joining Devon in a program against Bram & Magnus. The vets beat the Brits in a hardcore match, so that program maybe ongoing.
- Samuel Shaw and Brittany are officially a couple, and Gunner is now calling them "creepy". The pair stood tall over the former Marine an in-ring segment, but no official match yet.
